ATP’s Online Auction – hosted by Vonality

Sounds like fun! How do I bid on an item?

It’s an easy, three step process to get the auction item of your dreams:

  1. Go to to register and login. All you need is a valid e-mail address.

  2. Find the item listing, carefully check not only the title and description, but also terms and conditions – that way you’ll be aware of any restrictions such as blackout dates, performance dates and especially whether it’s one of the items going to live auction at Celebrity Hors d'Oeuvres on April 11.

  3. If you’re good to go, click BID NOW, enter the amount you’re bidding, then click the BID NOW button. You can also enter a proxy bid, if you want your computer to do your work for you. More information on proxy bids below.

And that's it! You'll get an e-mail confirming your bid and an additional e-mail if you are outbid. If you select a proxy bid, you don’t have to feverishly press ‘refresh’ and ignore the needs of family, friends and pets.

If your item is going to the live auction event, before the live auction commences you’ll receive an email indicating that you are the current high bidder, and instructing you how to increase your bid

When the auction closes, if you’re the winning bidder you’ll receive a congratulatory email, and then a confirmation from Alberta Theatre Projects the next day with instructions on how to access your item(s)

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to register to place a bid on an item?

Yes. The one-time registration will create your account. Then it’s easy for you to start placing bids – with ever increasing fervor. If you have any questions, drop us a line by clicking on "Contact Us"

Do I have to include my credit card information when registering?

No. All you provide is a valid e-mail address, and only one account is issued per e-mail address – so if you have difficulty creating one, you may already have registered. Once you register, we’ll send you a confirmation e-mail containing a link to click that will activate your account.

I’ve forgotten my password. How do I log in?

Just ask a 5th grader to create a new algorithm and …just kidding! All you have to do is click on My Account- and click on the send password link.

Can I change my password?

Yes. Once you have logged in you can click on My Accound and change your password

Will other users be able to see my information?

No. The only information that will be posted publicly is your “bidding handle” or user name. So feel free to keep out-bidding your best friend, and they’ll never even know who “SpanxBoy” is. Unless you tell them.

Do you offer tech support?

Yes. If you are experiencing any issues please contact us (using the contact us link above). Many times a technical issue can be solved by trying a different browser, clearing your cache/history or just trying again. If you still have issues contact us and we are ready to assist.

Can I watch an item without bidding?

Yes, you can. Just login and click "Watch Item". It will be saved in your My Account section so you can easily come back to the items you love when you are ready to bid.

What is a Proxy Bid?

Proxy bidding automatically sets a maximum amount you are willing to bid. Whenever someone outbids you, your proxy will increase your bid to the next increment. So you won`t pay more than you`ve decided, you don’t have to monitor the auction and you still won’t necessarily go to your maximum if no one pushes you. It’s exciting, and everyone likes a deal!

What is a Watch list?

A watch list displays items you wish to monitor - you keep track without having to bid immediately. If you decide to bid, you just click the listing in “My Watch List” under account menu.

Why did the auction closing time extend by 10 minutes after I placed my bid?

This is called "Popcorn" Bidding and it’s just as delicious as it sounds. Bids placed within 10 minutes prior to an item scheduled closing time will extend the closing time on that item an additional 10 minutes. This gives all bidders an opportunity to place a competing bid. All items will close when there have been no bids placed within the last remaining 10 minutes. Think of it as sudden death overtime in the auction world.

What is a reserve?

A reserve is the minimum price the organizer is willing to accept for the item. It usually means that it’s a pretty amazing item and you should bid.

What are live items?

Items marked as “Live” mean the item will be carrying on to the physical auction event at Celebrity Hors d'Oeuvres . The highest online bid will be the starting point for live auction. Each live package will have this banner on it

How do I know if I'm a winning bidder on an item?

You will see the information ‘high bidder” and their moniker on each page. If it’s you, and the auction has closed, you’re the winning bidder, and will receive an email from Vonality within 12 hours of the auction closing

Will I get notified if I am outbid?

Yes. You will receive an e-mail once you have been outbid.

How do I pay for an item?

Once you “win” an item, we accept payment through Visa or Mastercard. Log into Vonality and under the “myAccount” header, click the “Checkout” link and follow instructions. You can also pay through the ATP box office. Again, we don’t store your credit card information and our checkout process is secure. Payment is due within 24 hours of purchase.

How do I get my item?

All items are available for pick up at the ATP offices (220 9th Ave. SE, 2nd floor) beginning 2 days after the end of the auction.

How do I see how much an item closed for?

We do not disclose final prices on auction items, but if you`re not the successful bidder, you`ll know how much it didn`t close for!

Can I retract a bid?

All bids placed on our website are legally binding. By placing a bid, you enter into a legal contract to purchase the item and will be considered the buyer if you are the successful bidder. So please consider your bids carefully before placing them!
